Painted by the Sun
32”x48” Canvas
A once in a lifetime moment witnessing the Grand Canyon “Painted by the Sun”
This piece is contradictory in itself. By showing the clouds above, there would be no sun typically. And there wasn’t much sun to go around during our short visit to the Grand Canyon. My wife and I typically wait until after sunset to end our adventures since there is no more light to capture things. This sunset, we thought, was no exception. We were shivering and the light was fading on a late December evening. Most onlookers had retreated to their cars as we sat along the cliff’s edge. That is when there was a tiny break in the clouds somewhere unseen. Through the canyon, shot a small beam of light stopped by this beautiful geological feature in the midst of the canyon. I am very thankful to have captured the sun spotlighting this particular rock face for no reason anyone could ever discern. I believe anyone could agree though that it is in fact a wonderful sight, for no other reason except for the sake of being wonderful.
